Oh Well, Things Keep Happening
(2/5/2018)

This is the first day of my retirement. It is pretty strange; it is not that I have nothing to do; it is that I have nothing I have to do. I think that could be a problem. Might just spend all my time deciding what to do and end up doing - not much. Maybe not.

Not sure how this is all going to work out; but, when iweb was a thing and I was out of work I had a little site that I kind of had fun with and well, I will give it a try. Right now, this is a work in progress and in a while I will integrate the old iweb site and try to get everything working.

There is no real mission to this; just exploring.

If you happen to come across this site; why?

Oh, Price Is Right is on, have to go.

Cole!
(5/31/2021)

Time passes pretty quick. Cole and Kyle were babies, now all of a sudden they are teenagers. Wow!
Memorial Day!
(5/31/2021)

Came across this photo. My mom looks a little heavier than I remember; but, my pop is how I remember him, and, of course, Jill is too cute.
Baby!
(5/31/2021)

The baby is a joy. She keeps getting cuter and smarter all the time.
New House!
(5/31/2021)

Well, we are going to move. This is another event caused by old age. Over 55 community, no lawn work; one floor. Pretty nice house; but, it will take me and the dogs time to get used to. The housing market is crazy. My old house sold in one day; at a price over "asking". There is not much in the world that makes alot of sense.
Been Awhile!
(5/31/2021)

Not sure why; but, haven't posted in a while. Part of it is that I use old software for web creation and it only runs on an older machine. Part of it is because I am old. The photo is my new family crest.
Newspapers!
(1/28/2021)
The world is interseting. There are lots of opinions and not much substance. I've taken to looking at (not reading) newspapers from Portland, OR, Denver, Tulsa, two from South Dakota, Atlanta, Miami, Houston and Omaha; oh, and the NY Daily News and the NY Post. Emphasis is everything and it seems that each paper has its own perspective on what is important. The NY Post is by far the most extreme from an editorial perspective.
5G!
(11/23/2020)

I bought an iphone 12 mini. It is kind of amazing the power and technology packed into such a small thing. Had some issues geting it on the Verizon network; but, after a few long "chats" I think we are set. The value of 5G alludes me right now; but, I am sure at some point I will see it.
Stand!
(11/23/2020)

I downloaded this file and then printed it on my 3d printer. People like the stand and it is useful. Hmm, might say something about the future.
Learning To Drive!
(11/23/2020)

Well, everybody has to learn to drive and Ken is a pretty quick study. This is a labo kit on the Switch. Very cute.

Trump!
(11/7/2020)

I really don't like what President Trump has done to the country and it is very hard for me to understand how anyone could vote for him. It worries me that so many people voted for him; but, today I am happy that, soon, he will no longer be President.
Swift!
(9/7/2020)

Swift is my buddy; but, can't say that I ever know what she is thinking.
Baby!
(9/7/2020)

Found this 2018 picture.
Pool!
(9/2/2020)

Well, time to cover the pool. The weather is stil pretty warm; but, the Sun keeps hiding behind the trrees and the pool temp is about 68 and falling. It actually is still pretty nice; but. won't be getting any warmer.
Time!
(8/29/2020)
Time just seems to go right by and you don't even seem to notice. Things happen; but, it all seems to blend together. I guess it is just a matter of urgency. I keep breaking teeth; but otherwise things are pretty good. The lawn is brown; but, the dahleas are nice. The pool managed to stay full and there is no better way to cool off. Jill and Brit came to visit; long ride for them. The clock just seems to be going around.
New Car!
(8/29/2020)

Well, it was time to get a new car. The Yaris at 235.000± miles still ran remarkably well; but, the clutch was going and well, I am getting too old to get stuck (not that I go anywher). I had to buy my Honda Fit from a dealer in Brewster, NY. They were the least expensive and were able to get me a car with a standard transmission. I am not sure how dealerships work; but, the local dealers wanted large fees and couldn't get me a car. Very strange. I like the Fit. It runs well and doesn't have anything too fancy.
Baby!
(8/29/2020)

Nothing needs to be said here. She just gets cuter.
Mask!
(8/29/2020)

It just makes sense to wear a mask and it worries me that it is an issue. It is a crazy world.
Contact!
(3/20/2020)
There is no particular reason anyone should ever view this page. Basically, for my own amusement. However, for some reason I believe it is necessary to have a contact form. This is not as easy as it sounds. Robots are out there. Today I am trying "Typeform". Why not.
Baby!
(3/20/2020)

Because of the virus, I haven't seen the baby in a while. Not good.
What Is This?!
(3/20/2020)

Time passes and I wonder, how many kids could identify this. It is funny; I remember when manual typwriters were replaced by electric. It was a miracle.
Gramma!
(3/20/2020)

Found this picture of my grandmother on my father's side. I remember her. She was from a different time. Spoke mostly polish; liked nature and flowers; worked in a factory; pretty tough.
3D!
(3/20/2020)

I bought an inexpensive 3D printer. It is quite a thing. While really pretty simply; it is also prettyt amazing. The software and ability of the device to be precise in three demensions is impressive. There is this community of 3D users online and you can find a lot of pre-made models. This is a wind up toy; that shows both the capabilty and limitations of the printer. It works; but, because; things do not fit together perfectly; it is better to look at, then operate.
Labo!
(3/20/2020)

I have a Nintendo Switch. It is a very cute thing and reminds me that there are some very smart, creative people in the world. Right now, I am trying to play Luigi's Mansion; maybe, too old. There are these card board "Labo" kits for the switch. You basically fold and put them together to form objects that can interact with the switch. It is pretty amazing. The steering wheel thing pictured; lets you drive a car over video course and Mario Kart.
Looking Good!
(3/20/2020)

I lost my head; but, am still very handsome!
The Baby
(3/20/2020)

The baby is a joy! She is getting older and likes to get her own way; buy, she is pretty special.
Easy To Do Nothing, ...
(3/20/2020)
Wow, been very long; maybe, just getting old. Lots has happened; not much has changed. We got a virus. Spring is coming. The World keeps turning. I bought, well, I ordered, a 2020 Yaris L, with standard transmission. Its an inexpensive, cute little car and they said (pre virus) it would be 8-12 weeks. Don't know if it will ever show up; but, my 2010 Yaris has 238,000 miles and still runs pretty well. The pool seens to be holding water. The dogs are good, I just got a tooth implant. Carolyn is playing a lot of words with friends. Did a little painting; some insulating; some interior doors. Listenning to Quicksilver Messanger for some reason. Pretty good life.
Mindstorm!
(11/9/2019)

My lego car keeps evolving. I had fun putting together a new steering system and am working on incorporating the optical sensor.
New Car!
(11/9/2019)
Buying a new car is very strange these days. The internet has changed everything. You can go online and see what a fair price for a vehicle should be and can look at several dealers with just a few clicks. We were going to buy a car from a local dealer; but, when I asked for what I thought was a fair price, he said he would lose money at that price. A dealer a few towns away had an internet price of just $400 over what I offered. We saved about $3,000.
Acorns!
(11/9/2019)

Been spending quite a bit of time raking leaves and acorns. If acorns had just a little value, I would be a rich man. You can never get them all; so, the squirls need not worry.
Howard!
(11/9/2019)
A long time ago, when I worked in Groton, during the ride back and forth, I would listen to WNBC. In the morning it was Imus and evenings, it was Howard Stern. They were both great at the time and made the ride seem a little shorter. It seems like ages ago and when my wife got a new car with a free Sirius trial, I decided to listen to Howard. It is strange but the show is not much different and although I am a lot older; it is still pretty entertaining. I am not sure exactly what it is; but, he is a rare talent.
Ken!
(9/29/2019)

Ken and the boys slept over. The energy they all bring is amazing and she just gets cuter.
Pool!
(9/29/2019)

When the pool was new the ladder broke and put a couple holes in the liner. I patched it; but over the years the wall in the area deteriorated. Well, I like the pool; don't use it that much; but, it was worth a try to repair. Bought a 3x4 sheet of steel at Lowes; bolted it to the wall and put in a new liner. It has been a week and it holds water. We'll see.
Ogunquit!
(9/29/2019)

Went to Ogunquit for a few days. I like it there and have been going for quite a while. It is beautiful; but, like everything seems to become more commercialized each year.
Edge!
(9/29/2019)

I am not sure edging is a good thing. I guess it needs to be done; but, it is a little strange.
Dahlia!
(9/6/2019)

In the Spring, on a whim, I bought some Dahlia bulbs at Ocean State. I planted them too close together and didn't realize how tall they would be. The flowers are beautiful.
Fire!
(9/6/2019)

For $70, I bought a kindle fire, kids edition. The idea was to try it on my elderly aunt. With a Prime membership and Alexa it is a pretty amazing device. It isn't perfect; but, for $70, it will play movies and tv shows, news, weather and a lot more with a simple request. Being old myself, it is amazing how far things have progressed in a relatively short period. My Mac SE cost $2,000 and it was great; but, compared to today''s stuff, it was a very expensive toy.
Car!
(9/6/2019)

I love my Yaris; but, with 237,000 miles on it; might be time. I wanted something small, with a standard transmission and carplay. A Honda Fit seemed just about right. Of course, to get carplay you had to go up a model; but, ok. It is funny; at Honda's site, when you build a Fit, it starts with a standard transmission and to get a cvt, you pay an additional $800. In reality, there are almost no standard transmission Fits around. The dealer is attempting to find one; but, I am not optimistic.
Summer!
(8/25/2019)
It has been a while, again. Had a good Summer, went to Narraganset for a few days. Jill, Katie, the boys and Ken came for a while. Got a cold and putzed around. It is a full life.
Pool!
(8/25/2019)

Closed the pool today. The squirels kept throwing half eaten acorns and pooping in it. Oh, well, the water was getting cold. While I was putting the cover on, found two good size holes where the liner was coming out. Amazed it held water all Summer. Not sure what to do.
Ken!
(8/25/2019)

Ken started druming. She is pretty good.
Print!
(8/25/2019)

Haven't done much with my 3d printer. It is pretty interesting and there is an 3d printing infrastructure with "how to's"and models. I am so busy.
Acorns!
(8/25/2019)

loxWe have alot of oak trees and alot of acorns. Some years they fall lik rain and I have been hit on the head more than once.
Phlox!
(8/25/2019)

Phlox are wonderful flowers. They last quite a while and attract humming birds and butterflies. Their leaves must be very tasty, because the attract lots of hungry friends.
Frig!
(7/24/2019)

Well, today was try to fix the refrigerator day (second try). Water was ponding and freezing at the bottom of the freezer. A couple of days ago, I got to the condensation tray and melted the ice that had built up. I didn't clear the drain hose and of course the problem came back. This time I got the drain to drip; hopefully, fixed?
Bear!
(7/9/2019)

A pretty big bear came to visit our neighbor. Turned out to have a cub with it. In a way, it is kind of sad.
Cirque!
(7/9/2019)

Lots of years ago, we went to Cirque du Soleil, when they first came to Hartford. It was amazing and have been a fan ever since. While I enjoyed this show; it always has to compete with the memory of the first show we saw.
Dahlia!
(7/9/2019)

Bought these dahlias at Job Lot for a few dollars. Figured what the heck. Nice!
3d!
(7/9/2019)

Bought a 3d printer; $170. It is pretty cool. Had a good time putting it together and then printed my friend. For a first print it came out pretty well. Amazing stuff; now trying to figure out the software.
The Cape!
(7/9/2019)

Pretty, damn nice picture. Spent a few days on Cape Cod. It was nice; went to Provincetown. Went in early June, during the week and it was a little crowded. Can't imagine what it is like peak season.
My Boys!
(7/9/2019)

Well, time goes by. I have been a little busy; but, it is pretty easy to do nothing when you are busy all the time. My boys are happy and adjusting to Summer.
Ken!
(5/5/2019)

My friend just keeps on getting cuter.
Spring!
(5/5/2019)

Spring is pretty damn amazing! Everything looks so great and over night the world turns green. Sure, time will take its toll; but, for now, it is pretty spectacular.
Comcast!
(5/5/2019)
With some justification, everyone hates Comcast. However, yesterday, I had a great experience with their chat support. I got a new modem and while it worked fine; the Xfinity streaming ap would not recognize my wifi network and kept telling me to get on my "home wifi network". This is a strange problem which a few others seem to have had. Well, I went to chat support and after about an hour and three levels of problem solving the problem was fixed. Everyone I chatted with tried to help and when they couldn't got me to someone else. Not bad.
Bees!
(5/4/2019)
I have two elderly aunts. One recently died and the other is in a nursing home and it turns out that, at least in part, their circumstance is due to bees. At their home, built in the 1940's, the plumbing system vented through some elaborate piping out the side of the celler. Well, some bees decided that this would be a good spot for a nest. My aunts seeing this decided to tape over the vent. This led to the collapse of the soil pipe and a clog in the the outlet. Lots of pressure when there is no vent. I don't know what the lesson is; but, it is kind of amazing.
A lot of excitement
(4/8/2019)
Last week was a pretty full week. Swift accidently bit someone and the dog catcher came by; Barbara went to the ER and then the nursing home to join Agnes; listenned and liked Kendrick Lamar; still reading old Conan comic books online; ...
Ken
(4/8/2019)

Ken was a little quizzical last week. I guess, like most of us, she was just wondering what is going on.
Must Be Spring
(4/8/2019)

Every year my crocuses make there appearance in the front yard. Some years they sit in snow; but, they are always good to see.
Ken
(3/23/2019)

My friend Ken makes me happy.
Still Blooming?
(3/14/2019)

Back in November, these were blooming; still are!
Ken?
(3/14/2019)

Hard to believe; but, Ken was voluntarily incarcerated. She wasn't bad; just, misunderstood.
Comcast
(3/14/2019)

I had comcast internet, an antenna and hulu tv; the internet was $75 and hulu went up to $45. Comcast had an offer for $59 ($91 with all the charges) for two years for faster internet and 125 channels. Save $29 a month. The faster internet is great. The cable tv sucks; the box is slow and the 125 channels are a joke. However, I have a Roku TV and it has a xfinity streaming ap that works pretty well and is faster than the dedicated cable box; go figure.
Honda
(2/24/2019)

Came across this photo; when I was young my friend Bob and I had 305 Honda scramblers. They were the coolest things on the planet; indestructible, take you anywhere; very nice.
Captcha?
(2/22/2019)
Well, sometimes I do things; just to see if I can. While I don't think many people, if any, look here, I wanted a comment form. I had one tied to a mysql data base; but, was amazed at the spam and junk. I now have what is called a captcha to reduce computerized input and am trying to get any input by "formmail". Might work.

Both google and amazon provide pretty amazing tools if you are inclined to use them. They will certainly dominate for a while.

The internet is a pretty interesting thing; it is shaped by people trying to find weaknesses and people trying to maintain security. It is sometimes frustrating when things don't work, because of security measures.

Comment

Robins?
(2/18/2019)

Out shoveling a little today and there to my surprise about 30 robins. Either they know something we don't or they made a wrong turn.
Violets!
(2/18/2019)

These were my mothers. I took them from her apartment when she died. They love this window and just keep blooming.
Doors, Almost!
(2/18/2019)

Alot of doors in a small space; but, close to complete. Looks pretty good; of course, not perfect.
Little dog!
(2/8/2019)

Little dog is the neglected one. He is a good boy; barks at everything, but, would never hurt anything. In fact, when the Swift acts up, it is the little who tries to intercede. Fortunately, they get along pretty well; with the minor "flare up" over Carolyn's attention.
Doors!
(2/8/2019)
Hard to believe, but I am still working on the doors. Have painted two of them; have two more to paint and then; patch and paint the walls. This is not a fun thing; but; should be done by Spring.
More Doors!
(1/21/2019)

I like to keep busy and with an old house, there is always something to do. My skills have there limits; but, I try. I wonder what we did prior to the internet; you can provide "how to's" for pretty much everything. Unfortunately, the doors on the lower level are 79 inches high. This is very odd; since almost all doors are 80 inches. This is not a particularly easy thing to overcome. Doors in general don't like to be trimmed very much and triming an inch off the bottom gets tricky. It has taken alot of time; but, I am making progress.
Ice!
(1/20/2019)

Boy, we got about 3 or four inches of snow; but, it changed to freezing rain and got very cold. Ice everywhere. There is really no way to deal with it. It is about 6 degrees out; any melt stuff does nothing. Never really seen it like this; 20 degrees tomorrow and 40 Wednesday.
Big and little dog!
(1/8/2019)

Winter is hard on my friends; they like to chase the squirels and run in the yard (electric fence); but, aren't crazy about the cold. They make me happy and don't complain too much.
New Year!
(1/8/2019)

The new year past without much notice. Nice shrimp dinner; a little tv and my little puzzle; being old is hard. I like puzzles; but, not too dificult. You should be able to walk by, look and add a piece. Jill is back in Denver and everyone is back at school or work; I am going to watch the Price Is Right.
Christmas!
(12/28/2018)

Well, it was a pretty nice Christmas! My friend Ken gave me a nice present and there was lots of food and fun. Everyone seemed pretty happy. I am waiting for my Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty.
Old!
(12/20/2018)

Not sure what happened to these people; but, they sure must be pretty old!
Mindstorm!
(12/11/2018)

My Lego Mindstorm is pretty cute. It would probably be better in the hands of a young person; but, I tinker a little. This is my creation that uses the infrared sensor to reverse, turn and move on. Now to attach the vacuun cleaner.

Amazing!
(11/28/2018)

There maybe hope!
New Phone!
(11/28/2018)

Well, I love getting a deal and I love Apple; so, my new iphone makes me happy. I got the iphone X from Verizon for $400 off with no trade. It isn't the latest; but, compared to my iphone 6 (still worth $85 as a trade) it is a wonder. It works as a phone; better calling and reception; much quicker and does a lot of cute things. Some people say that phones have reached there max in utility; I think it is just the beginning.

Zip!
(11/17/2018)

Over the years, I have owned a bunch of squal jackets. Didn't matter, LL Bean, Lands End, Eddie Bauer, I always, eventually, broke the zipper. I had two jackets with broken zippers laying around so I decided to try and fix them. A look on the internet and five munutes and they both worked. Amazing, all thes years and a fix was easy. Both jackets came with zippers on the pockets. You remove the main clasp by either clipping the tiny "stop" on the top or pulling off a tiny metal "stop". On the the pocket remove the "stops" on both sides and take that clasp and slide it on the main zipper. There it is, it just works.
Blackie?
(11/13/2018)

Pretty unusual, my friend Blackie has come to visit and clean up some acorns. It is strange to see him. He seems a little smaller than the other squirrels; but, this year there is plenty of food for everyone.
Christmas?
(11/12/2018)

It isn't Christmas; but, the Christmas cactus is petty special.
Ken & Minnie
(11/12/2018)

Couldn't resist; Minnie was hanging out at Costco and we had to bring her home for Ken.
Special!
The best!
Roxy Music
(10/31/2018)
I rediscovered Roxy Music and it makes me smile. I recommend the album "Heart Stll Beating"
Floors
(10/31/2018)

Well, refinishing hardwood floors is now off my things to do. It came out pretty well; but, wasn't much fun and like anything else, the first time was quite a learning thing. The equipment I rented from Home Depot worked well; but, you don't want to be lugging it around.
Well, That's Not Good!
(10/2/2018)

Started painting the hall way and living room. Grey was the color choice; but, it seems purple turned up. Hmm; back to the drawing board.
Hole!
(10/2/2018)

Well, I bought an endoscope for $28. Very cute, works with the iphone. I had a draft under a kitchen cabinet; managed to stuff some insulation in; but, still a draft. Interesting hole in the wall behaind the cabinet; had to make a cut out in the cabinet floor; will have to see how my patch works out.
Switch!
(9/7/2018)

Setup my new switch. Bought a refurbished unit at a reasonable price. No games yet; but, downloaded Fortnite and am pretty impressed. It is a cool concept and works.
Doorbell!
(9/7/2018)

I not sure we have ever had a doorbell which actually worked. It would work sometimes and not othere or would just go off on its own. The dogs didn't like it either. I saw this wireless doorbell for $30 and figured what the heck. It is not the most beautiful thing; but, it works. Two transmitters and two receivers for $30; not bad and the dogs don't seem to mind the current ringtone.
Just Do It!
(9/4/2018)

YES!
Apple!
(9/4/2018)

No secret that I am an Apple fanboy. I bought a Mac SE 20 in 1988 or 89 and have been hooked ever since. It always seems to me that Apple thinks about products in a way other companies do not. My homepod is a pretty nice as a music machine; but, it is also a hub for what Apple calls homekit. For no good reason, other than they were on sale, I bought a couple Phillips Hue intelligent lights. Basically, you can use Siri or the the home ap to turn them on and off from anywhere with an internet location. The thing that amazed me was not turning the lights on; it was that once it was setup on one ios device; it was setup on all your devices with the same icloud address and that if you wanted to expand to another icloud address, it was just a matter of sending and accepting an invitation and all their stuff worked.
Minnie!
(8/30/2018)

Lego definitely knows how to make money.
Pool!
(8/30/2018)

It has been and is very hot and humid; but, my friends the squirels want to fill my pool with acorns and it is a battle that is tough to win. New pool cover and we will see what happens; the pool and liner are getting a little old.
Shelf!
(8/30/2018)

When we hung the TV, I wanted to hide as many wires as possible; but some things either have to be visable or accessible. I built a little shelf. Came out pretty well, tough I am no cabinet maker.
Kenno!
(8/30/2018)

When Ken is thirteen, if I am still around, this is the photo I am going to post on her social media. She is a beautiful little girl.
Homepod!
(8/30/2018)

For my birthday, I bought a homepod. Costco had it on sale. It is a pretty cool device with lots of potential. Sound is pretty good and combined with an Apple music account; pretty neat. You just ask Siri to play Tony Bennett or ten years after and it is there. I like it.
Wow!
(8/30/2018)
Over a month? Just getting old and lazy. A lot happenning. Had a birthday; stayed a few days at the beach in Rhode Island; Jill came to visit; and Kyle and Kole kept me company a day or too. Life is pretty good.
Prodigy
(7/26/2018)

Well, looks like Ken has started a new career.
Brownies
(7/26/2018)

I make some pretty mean brownies. My secret is raisins. I soak them to soften and then just add to the mix. Walnuts are good too; but, it is the raisins that make the difference.
Hugo
(7/14/2018)

Hugo has been my friend for a long time. I remember when Jill was very young Hugo would play with us. I am not sure where he came from; but, it seems that he has always been around. I was pretty happy when Hugo came by to say hello to Kennedy. They seemed to really get along and I hope they have a long friendship.
Crab Grass
(7/14/2018)
Crab grass is not a good thing. Because of the dogs, I didn't want to put herbicide in the back yard. Well, with the hot weather, we have a bumper crop of crab grass. It really takes over and kills any other grass. Not too nice. I actually pull some of it up; but, it is a losing battle.

Hasn't rained in a while; but the flowers are doing pretty well this year. If you know how to convince squirrels to eat the whole acorn and not deposit half of it in my pool, it would be very helpful.
Ken
(6/29/2018)

Ken was farming today. Not much to say; but, she is a pretty cute girl.
New TV
(6/27/2018)

I broke the old TV. Hit the screen with something and that was it. Amazing how vulnerable the screens are. New tv is a little bigger and hung it from the wall. Not one of the high end models; but, work pretty well.
Raspberry Pi
(6/22/2018)

A while ago I bought a raspberry pi. I saw an article about getting all these legacy games with something called retropie. Well, the raspberry pi is a pretty amazing little thing and I got retropie working with a few old games; but, it wasn't that cute. I have now discovered something called "gamewizard". It took a while for me to get it going; but, as you can see, it is now downloading hundreds, maybe, thousands of games. I am always impressed by what people can do.
Baby!
(6/21/2018)

This baby sitting stuff is a "piece of cake".
Pastrami
(6/20/2018)
I really like a pastrami sandwhich (the plate pastrami; not the round). Can be very fatty; but, with some rye bread and a few french fries, Oh, Boy!.
How is this Possible?
(6/16/2018)
The President of the United States is using the lives of children as a negotiating tool in a political debate?
WIFI Calling
(6/16/2018)
We were having trouble at home with our cell phone reception; walking from one room to another would impact a call. I took a shot and sent a text to Verizon. The tech I got too was very good. He suggested enabling wifi calling and helped me with the process. So far, seems to have solved the problem. I don't know the down side of this, if there is one; but, it is kind of interesting that I am using Comcast internet to make and receive a Verizon call.
Pretty Quiet
(6/13/2018)
Not much happening today, Mowed a little; the wire on my wii sensor bar broke, very thin and virtually no copper in the wire; couldn't patch or twist together; had to order one ($8.00). Just a lazy day.
Yaris
(6/8/2018)

I love my little Yaris; standard transmission, hand crank windows, my added carplay stereo, perfect. With 230,000 miles though, it is almost as old as me. Recently developed a squeal under the hood by the alternator. Well, replaced the alternator (pretty easy two bolts and a few connectors); but; turns out the noise is from the ac compressor, not good. First estimate was $750 and it is hard to justify putting a bunch of money in the car.
Pool Day
(5/30/2018)

Nice day to open the pool. Still a lot of stuff falling; but, what the heck. Water temp 70 degrees; water is blue, but, had some nasty stuff floating around; had to really go all out with the chlorine. Hope it waorks.

Oh, if you take an aerial photo of the pool, you see the sky.

Memorial Day
(5/28/2018)

In honor of Memorial Day we practiced some aerial maneuvers. This was not a prelude to an attack; just a peaceful civilian exercise.
Learning
(5/22/2018)

I have two small drones; the jumping summo (very nice) and my flying parrot drone. The photos from the summo were of much better quality on the ipad than the cargo drone and I just figured the camara wasn't very good; but, just for fun, I figured I would search for a way to improve the photo quality. Turns out, on the cargo done, it shows a "thumbnail" on the ipad and to get the actual photo you need to download the image to a computer. There is always something to learn.
Grass
(5/19/2018)

Front lawn, looks pretty good this year. With the fence, I could keep the dogs in the back, so, I used some weed killer and grab grass stuff. Chemicals work. In the back I put down some fertilizer; but no poisons. Looks ok right now; but, loaded with weeds and grab grass is on the way. The pool is still covered; maybe, Memorial Day.
Boy, Time Goes By
(5/15/2018)
Or "It is easy to do nothing when you busy all the time!" Not totally fair; new closet door, some work in the yard, air conditioners in, a little work on the pool, mowing and weeding; keepin' busy.

My little drone; refurbished Parrot, $39.00; happens to support "Swift Playground" , Apple's coding thing for kids. It is pretty cool and interesting; but, it may be more fun just to fly it.

The drone itself is very good and responsive. It has its limits; but, I like it.

In the Spring, it is amazing how green and flawless the plants are.

End of the World
(4/24/2018)
On the way to Boston, I figured out how the world is going to end. The screen on my new carplay receiver dimmed and became unreadable in sun light. Seemed pretty random and wasn't much I could do about it. Turns out the receiver has a feature that dims the screen at night, so it doesn't distract. Well, that is great; but, the system clock was somehow set with AM and PM reversed and the screen dimmed in the daylight. This is how the world ends - someone does something that seems wonderful; but, some missed or overlooked thing changes everything and boom. Turned off the dimming feature completely.
Swift
(4/16/2018

Lots of rain today; more than I have seen in a long time; maybe Swift can make the Sun shine.

Blue Jay wondering what is going on?
(4/10/2018)

April 10 and the snow keeps coming. The birds don't seem what to make of it; but, later in the week they say it will hit 70.
Minnie & friends!
(4/9/2018)

Looks like a good time to me. I especially like the little one.
Now for some paint.
(4/8/2018)

Cold again; so I might as well paint. Small room; a lot of edges. Didn't like the old color and didn't know what color to use. Just looked in the basement to see what we had and used it. Not bad. They keep on trying to reduce the volatiles in paint. Probably a good idea; but, the paint doesn't flow and cover well. Have to do a lot of retouching.

Spending a lot of time in the bathroom!
(4/7/2018)

Weather not nice; so doing some work inside. The tile in the bathroom needed quite a bit of work. Tried to regrout and caulk. Interesting, but, will have to wait to see how it holds up. First time I used tape to caulk; worked well.

Isn't this nice!
(4/2/2018)

Well, April 2 and four inches of snow. Lasted until 11:00 AM; by 2:00 PM anything on pavement had melted. Pretty interesting.

Almost done!
(3/29/2018)

From this angle, it looks pretty good. Staight on, well, better than "snow fence". The "little dog" found his way around it; but, Swift stays in back and that is good.

Spring!
(3/28/2018)

Don't need to say too much more; pretty nice.

Well, it will be okay.
(3/28/2018)

Building a fence on a slope does present some challenges; you can't let the dogs go under and the fence doesn't bend. There are probably alot of ways to do this; but, this should work for now. Progress is slow; hopefully this week.

Maybe, too old to be digging!
3/23/2018

Well, trying to build a short fence to keep the dogs in the backyard. Seemed like a good idea at the time. That big rock under the gloves was about a foot down; not much fun. One post done two more to go.

Minnie Came To Town!
(3/16/2018)

Well, Minnie Mouse and her friend visited today. They road around in this fancy car/airplane and seemed to have a pretty nice time.

More snow! 3/13/2018

When you walk on this snow, it turns to slush and water. Not too much fun; but, better days are coming. The fence came yesterday; have to dig three deep post holes. Should be fun.

This makes me smile!
3/12/2018
Well, a lot of excitement
(3/8/2018)

Heavy, wet snow; pretty, but not fun to move. Pretty amazing that I did some work in the yard yesterday and now there is 8 inches of snow over it. Warm today, so it is melting fast. keepin' busy; I now have an Amazon Web Services account (free) and a mysql database linked to a filemaker data base; interesting, but, not very useful. Carolyn is making beef stew and the two dogs love the snow. Nice.

Today, we have a contest! (2/27/2018)

Where is this? Still working on what you win.

Looking the wrong way! (2/26/2018) In the back of my mind, I have always felt that you can be as careful or thoughtful as you want; sometimes, you will be "looking the wrong way". This doesn't have to be a dire thing; it just means you don't see what is next or what needs to be done because you just are not looking in the right place. Todsy, I spent a good amount of time trying to fix a mysql connection, I even contacted the hosting company. It turned out to be a problen with the form, itself, and nothing to do with the database. Go figure.

60 plus degrees
(2/21/2018)
Pretty nice day for February. Painted the ceiling in the hall; did a little molding repair and raked a few leaves; it is a full life. Everything is pretty good.
The Boys!

Well, today the boys came to "Town". This minecraft thing sort of eludes me; but, they did get a lot of exercise.

Little Ken

Little Kennedy came to "Town" and a good time was had by all. She is pretty sweet and a very good girl

Note: You might notice that none of the videos work on the "Old Weather" files. They changed the html tag and they have to be updated; maybe, so busy.

What's You Going To Do About Me? (2/15/2018

This seems like a nice place to rest for a while.
(2/14/2018)
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! This is a new look; it is not as sophisticated; but is easier to update (no css). Lots happening: got a new battery for my old video camara; got a medical advantage policy for my health insurance (health care is really messed up); Carolyn went to the YMCA for the first time in a while; Swift and little dog are sleeping. Life is good.

Not sure what I am doing the rest of the day; hmm.

The Swift One

Swifty is one amazing dog. Very crazy; can't be trusted with children or actually anyone; yet, immensely lovable. She went away for three months; but, is now home where she belongs. To watch her run is a joy; she runs just because and you can not help but smile. I try to walk her every day; it just warms her up for a few sprints across the back yard.

Lego Boost

The Lego Boost is an expensive; but, pretty cool toy. My friend Kyle recently put the robot together and I think he had some fun and maybe learned a few things. He is an expert at lego's and in time, will be making the toy do tricks.

Little Jill

Jill lives in Denver. She says Colorado is beautiful and a great place to live. I miss her sometime; but, I think she is happy and has some fun every once in a while. Maybe, someday, I will go to Rocky Mountain National Park.
